Well begun is half done!

Nav Sadhana  Kala Kendra is an unique educational institution in the country which aims at integral development of a person through Indianart- dance and music. It is a Post Graduate  College of Dance and Music, it trains the students to be professional in Bharatnatyam  and  Hindustani Vocal affiliated to Indira Gandhi Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya Khairagarh in Chattisgarh.

New admissions with counseling for M. Mus. first year was done by a panel of teachers on 27th June 2011.

For B.A. First year there were 23 new admissions. Bharat Natyam 14 and Hindustani Music.

On 2nd July all the staff members of Kala Kendra gathered together  for the first staff meeting. Fr.Dr.V. Sebastian the Principal of the college presided over the meeting. We discussed about the new scholastic year and the important programmes for this year.

Students of Kala Kendra Hostel  B.A. II, B.A.III arrived. The campus was once again full of laughter and hustle , bustle.

New admissions for B.A. I st year were interviewed by a panel of teachers for Bharat natyam and Hindustani Vocal and 14 new comers were admitted.

Well began is half done.

Satrambh was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Rt.Rev. Dr.Raphy Manjaly, the Bishop of Varanasi and the Chairman of Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra. The function beganat 8.30 a.m.  with the morning Assembly. The Third Year B.A. students sang devotionally the Bhajan. Bishp Raphy spoke well on the leadership. He said, all are unique persons, God has given each one a talent, you have a unique talent of music and dance. Each one must make an sincere effort to develop this talent and become leaders. No man will make a  great leader who wants to do it all by himself, or to get all the credit for doing it. Bishop Raphy then ontroduced the new staff members to the students and teachers. Fr.D.Sengole the new administrator, Fr. Rosline Raja, in charge of communication centre, Fr.Arvind Louis the Secretary in Seva Sadan office. The new teachers for Bharatnatyam Mr.K. Rajkumar, and Mr.A.Robin were also introduced. Fr.V. Sebastian the Director thanked Bishop Raphy for making himself available for this inaugural function.

It was a joyous day for our Kala Kendra professors and students when the results of B.A. and M.A. were announced. 100% .Bravo!

Satrarambh

Beginning of academic year in the College of  Dance and Music in Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra was on 21st July 2012 in Milan Hall. “ Jeevan Denevale teri Jai Ho” was the schloka recited by our  Hindustani Vocal Students as the Deep was lighted .The students of B.A. Second year performed classical dance in Tamil,Shiv Shambho contemprory dance was performed bt the Third year B.A. Students. Choreography was done by the Bharatnatyam teachers of Kala Kendra Mr. K.Rajkumar and Mr.A. Robin.The audience applauded and appreciated these dances. The Chief guest Rt.Rev.Dr.Raphy Manjaly the President of the Kala Kendra encouraged the students to go ahead inspite of the fear spread in the society by corrupt practices, only the Music can bring inner peace to the people. Fr.V.Sebastian, the Director of Nav sadhana gave welcome speech and Mr.Dr.Bhuvaneshwar Tiwari thanked everyone present. On this occasion Dr.Ramashankar  of BHU university , professor of Sangeet academy demonstated his knowledge on Vocal Music for 45 minutes and inspired all those present.

Deekshrambh:

July 23rd will remain a Red Letter Day for our newly admitted 25 students of B.A. First Year of Kala Kendra. At 8.30 a.m.College Assembly was held. Thereafter the family of Nav Sadhana gathered together in Milan Hall.

At 9.00 a.m. sharp for the Deeksharambh , our first year students were dressed in their  beautiful and modest attirement. The shloka gave an atmosphere of devotion and respect for Guru, the words of shloka were “Guru Govind dono khade , kaku lage pau “ after that a song respecting the teachers was sung. Each of the students carried in a thali a coconut, beetle leaf, arecanut, a pen , a banana and Indian sweets with gulaland rice as the Indian tradition allows.

Each one came forward and touched the feet of Guru, taking their blessing. All the Professors of Kala Kendra, the staff of Nav Sadhana were present. Fr.Sebastian, the Principal was requested by college leader Ankit Kumar  to speak few words of blessing. He spoke on Education as not only increase of knowledge but it is the character formation. Mr.Govind Varma,the senior teacher spoke on the  connection of head and heart. He spoke on AHAM, people who praise themselves and are egoist, he said we should be other oriented. The function came to an end with thanksgiving.

TALENT SHOW IN KALA KENDRA

Each person is unique  God gifted. This was proved by our students of B.A.First Year, the Freshers 26 in number. It was their day  to show individual talent performance on the stage. Each one was unique in her/his  programme. Varieties of programmes were performed the  audience was spell bound. Sneha and Nancy proved excellent anchorers. There were Bharatnatyam, classical dances,  skit, comedy etc.Everyone present appreciated, applauded  and encouraged the students. Mike arrangemnt and Photography was the initiation of Fr. Roselin Raja. The third year B.A. Students supported the first years. Fr.Sebastian the Director and Sir Ram Sudhar Singh congratulated the first year students for their excellent performance. Kumari Magret gave vote of thanks.

SUR SANGAM

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students of Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra to attend  the demonstration programme put up on the stage by Shri Vidyadhar Vyas , a famous Maharashtrian Vocalist from Mumbai. He was the vice-chancellor of Bhatkhande Vishwavidyalaya /Lucknow. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Sumeera Kasliwal Vyas who is the Sitar Professor at Delhi University. Professor Vyas ji sang Malhar Raga in different kinds that is Megh Malhar, Sur Malhar then in Zaptal he sang “Garje Ghata Ghan Kare, Kare” was so touching that everyone applauded. He also gave practical knowledge regarding the GHARANAS. Mr. Dr.B.P. Tiwari welcomed them and Mr.Govind Varma thanked him for his wise advice to our Professors and students. The both  Vyas couple was honoured by Shawls.

Munshi Premchand is the pride of Banares. He was born in Lamahi close to Pandeypur in Varanasi. Every year his Birth Anniversary is celebrated in Sanskritik Sankul. Different programmes are arranged by the committee for three days. As every year Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra students are invited for the programme. This Year our B.A. Third year students performed a Semi-Classical Dance on “Shiv Shambho” and won the appreciation from the audience. The students with their Teacher Shri K. Rajkumar and the team of Nav Sadhana staff was honoured by  the chief guest Professor  Kashinath Singh , the Vice-Chancellor.

August 2012

First week of August for Kala Kendra students was challenging week as they had to participate in creative assembly. All the students of B.A.  did their very best. Prizes went to the II year Bharat Natyam Students for Best Assembly. II nd prize was bagged by First Year Bharat natyam Students and the third prize went to the Hindusthani Vocal students of II year. Bravo students! You have done well!!

Saturday the 4th August 2012 our students  gathered in M.A. Cottage for the competitions in Patriotic songs, self composed. It was very exciting for the students as the groups came up. Three judges sat in front to give scores. One was better than the other. Prizes were bagged by the three groups.

15th AUGUST 2012

MA TUJHE PRANAM/ VANDE MATARAM

The Students and the professors of Kala Kendra College of Dance and Music assembled in front of the Milan Hall to Salute the Tiranga. Sharp at 8.30 a.m. our students were ready for the parade and march past in variety of their beautiful dresses. The chief Guest Fr.Dr.V. Sebastian was brought by our two NCC students near the flag hoisting place to hoist the flag. We began saluting the flag and singing in attention our National Anthem. Hansraj the B.A. Third year student took the command and brought the students to salute the Flag. Sweta first year B.A. students in her loud voice gave the Nara Bharat Mata ki Jai. Then everyone was escorted to the Milan hall for cultural programme. Many were present, the members of CBCI CARD group, Brothers of MSFS, Juniors of St.Ann , Novices of Holy Cross and our students. Third year students gave a dance drama performance on Dandy March and Jhansi ki Rani Laxmibai. II years and III years B.A. Vocal group sang Desh Bhati-Patriotic songs and won the hearts of the hearers. The function ended with facilitation to Fr. D. Sengole who celebrated his feast day.

Choreography  of Dance competitions

Nav Sadhana Kala Kendrahas been a cradle where talents, arts and opportunities are nurtured, where young minds explore the possibilities of presenting their talents  with hard work and skills. With the able guidance of their Dance Teachers our students of B.A. I,II, and III years performed the Bharatnatyam Dances .It was really a competition, as even the judges found difficult to note who could be the best. B.A. Third years bagged the first position followed by great applause. Next winners were II year students. Third position was our freshers who too did well.

Drawing and painting competitions

The aim  of having drawing and painting competitions for our Kala Kendra Students of M.A. and B.A.  is to develop creative and imaginative learning. To develop their skills of observation, enquiry understanding and aesthetic beauty. Our students were very enthusiastic  at  participating  in the drawing and painting competition held in Milan Hall. Each one was trying to produce better than the other.

Teachers Day

The future of  our country is shaped in the classroom by the TEACHER.  Our students of Kala Kendra paid their respect and homage to the professors teaching them . They took the trouble to decorate the staff room and Milan Hall the previous day of the celebration. Variety of entertainment programme was presented on the 5th September. Thanking the teachers for their gift of showing the right easy , making their future bright and making them precious pearls to face the future with courage. It was the memorial day for the teachers who appreciated the students.  Mother Theresa was remembered on her death anniversary by all.

Girl Child Day and Mother Mary’s Birthday

Kala Kendra students of Third year Vocal Students had a special Assembly to honour the Girl child. It was very touching and eye opening theme of the  Special Assembly. The preference for a male child is deeply embedded in our country. At present there is an awareness among our people regarding preciousness of a girl child. Today India needs women who are educated, energetic, confident ,courageous who can contribute to the development of the family, society and the country at large. “ The flowers of tomorrow are in the seeds of today.”

TROUP TO Bareilly

Our Bharatnatyam students along with the Director of Nav Sadhana, Fr. Roseline Raja, the director Communication Centre and their class teacher Mr.A . Robin traveled to Bareilly for the Bharatnatyam performance to an NGO who had invited  whose  head was Mrs. Reena Dey. The performance of our students was excellent among the other performances.

Gandhi Jayanti !

Our students came to the college with lots of enthusiasm. We began the day with Assembly, which was conducted by our B.A. First year students with a theme of Gandhian Principles. It was well conducted , everyone present applauded. Fr.D.Senole and Sir Kamini Mohan appreciated and spoke on the principles Gandhi followed. Shramdan followed, every student took active part in cleaning the college and its surrounding. Our boys cleaned the nails well.

Principals Day

The day was celebrated with pomp and show. The day began with solemn High Mass celebrated by Fr.V. Sebastian and con celebrated by Fr.Sengole, Fr. Roslind Raja and Fr. Arvind. It was the Birthday of Fr.Sebastian. The Hostel students of Kala Kendra sang the meaningful hymns during the Holy Eucharist. After the celebration of Eucharist we gathered in Vihar to cut the cake and facilitate Fr.Sebastian. At 11.00 a.m. once again we gathered together the Family of Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra for the cultural programme whi ch lasted for two hours. Colourful programme was presented by our professors and students. It was really a Red Letter Day for the Principal.

Nritya Sangeet Mahotsave 20.10,2012

Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra was  happy to celebrate theSangit & Nritya Mahotsav  which was held  held on 20thOctober 2012 at 9.30 a.m. in Milan Hall.This is an invitation to encourage the school children of Varanasi  to take part in this unique and spirit filled event. After their arrival  lot was set and the number was allotted. The function began exactly at 9.30 a.m. with a Bhajan and lighting the lamp. Our students of Kala Kendra gave a welcome dance. The chief guest Mr.S.P. Srivastava ACM spoke and blessed the children. Solo vocal Solo Dance ,Vocal Group, Vocal Group began and lasted for whole day, followed by honouring the guests and judges. Different schools bagged the prizes. Every one was enthusiastic and participated whole heartedly. There were 12 schools of Varanasi Mandal who participated. Sunbeam Varuna and Sunbeam Bhawanipur DLW, Marhauli ,came up with first prize. They were declared to perform these items on Bible Festival Day on 4thNovember. Other schools which participated were t.Mary’s School , Cantt. Those who stood IInd and IIIrd were given certificates and cash on the same day.

BIBLE FESTIVAL:04.11.2012

A Red Letter Day for Nav Sadhana was the day of celebration of the Bible Festival on 4th November 2012.The previous day 3rd  November was a busy day for all our staff and students of Kala Kendra as the competitions were held on this day. The Directors and participant students from six Dioceses had arrived on 2nd   evening. They represented Agra, Allahabad, Bijnor, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, and Varanasi. All were excited. The theme of Bible Festival 2012 was  St.Mathew’s Gospel. Solo & group, in dance, Speech, Skit/mime, Drawing, Model making and Quiz. Every participant did her /his best. The winners were awarded on 4th  evening. The chief guest of the function on 4th was Rt.Rev.Bishop  Raphy Manjaly the President of Nav Sadhana.The guest of honour was the Mr.Bhanuchandra Goswami CDO of Varanasi.Vote of thanks was from Mr.Ram Sudhar Singh. M.C. of the programme was also Sir Dr.Ram Sudhar Singh The championship was bagged by Allahabad Diocese who got the highest Marks. The items on the stage were performed by those groups who stood first. The Kala Kendra students of music performed Bhajan  and prayer song and the dance drama was performed by our Bharat Natyam students. The climax of the day was releasing  of new C.D. by Bishop Raphy Majaly, the Bishop of Varanasi.This C.D. named AHATE by Fr. Roselin Raja Manser and co. of Nav Sadhana communication centre. Everyone appreciated this great event-Regional Bible  Festival. Everyone present was invited to participate the evening meal.

November 19.2012

An important meeting of the  Bishops, Major Superiors of CRI and Agra Priests Council was held in Nav Sadhana Pastoral Centre. There were 12 Bishops, 42 priests 31 sisters and one brother were present. Our Students of Kala Kendra were excited as they were being asked to perform the stage programme for all these VVIPs. Sharp at 6.00 p.m . all gathered on the premises of Nav Sadhana stage was prepared in the open air though it was chill weather but all sat spell bound as our students performed the items. Vocal Students gave a very good performance at the very beginning, followed by Bharatnatyam  dances and Nritya Natika from the Bible. Bishop Raphy Manjaly, the Bishop of Varanasi appreciated the students for their excellent performance.

DEV DEEPAWALI

It was indeed  a Red Letter Day for our Kala Kendra  Institution and specially for our students who were invited by the Committee of Dev Deepawali /Varanasi  to perform a Live dance drama on the Ghats of Ganga, the Holy River. Lacs of people from national and International level were present for this auspicious day where our students performed Live Dance Drama on the theme “Ganga”. Everyone present applauded and the students were priviledged to witness the beautiful scenery of thousands of Oil Diyas floating in Ganges. The aim of this performance was to create awareness of keeping  Ganga, the ghats and the city of Varanasi clean , green and serene. Jai Ma Ganga!

DECEMBER 10- 20 , 2012

Semester Exams of M.A. I st year and Unit Test of B.A.

On 10th December our students arrived in Kala Kendra, college of Dance and Music to give their Unit Test. The M.A. First year students arrived , nervous as they were to perform stage items and Viva for the Semester Examination. The Examiners came all the way from Lucknow and Allahabad. Our students did very well. Both the examiners were happy with our students performance.

Our Kala Kendra students were excited as it was the last day of the year for them in college . We were celebrating Christmas party. Our 1st year students prepared a skit on the nativity of the Baby Jesus ,it was super. We  had games for the teachers as well as for the students of Kala Kendra. Everyone present took active part and some won the prizes. The prizes were distributed by Fr.V. Sebastian the Director of Nav Sadhana. After the party everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Fr. Sengole, the administrator of Kala Kendra. Fr.Roselin Raja directed the stage items.

The Kala Kendra college of dance and music reopened after the Winter vacation. Except a few all were present for their regular classes. We wish you dear Professors and  students God’s blessing  during this Nw year 2013!

Republic Day Celebration

Jai Bharat ! The Flag hoisting was done at 8.30 a.m. in front of Milan Hall. The chief Guest of the day was requested to hoist the flag. After which  all assembled entered the Milan Hall for the performance  of cultural programme. Everyone present applauded the Skit played by our B.A first year students on the latest

Practical Exams

Our Students of M.A. and B.A. had their University practical Examinations on different days. Though students were nervous yet all of them performed well and the Examiners were very much impressed. Thank God !

The B.A. students of Bharat Natyam had their practical university examination. All of them did very well in spite of the remote preparations for the Arengetram on 3rd March.

Sad Day!

We received shocking news about the sad demise of Re.Fr. Thomas D’Sa of Bareilly diocese. He was a great amn a simple soul.He was the third Director of Nav Sadhana and the founder of Kala Kendra Hindustani vocal. Thank you dear Father  and may you rest in peace.May God reward you for all the wonderful things you have done with great love.

ARENGETRAM / 15 -Deekshant Samaroh

A great day for our students of 3rd year B.A. Everyone was excited as the parents were already there to witness the function of their wards. 25 Students of Vocal and Bharatnatyam took their oath and performed what they had learned during the last three years. It was also a Day for Printania Awards Dr.Saroja Vaidyanathan Dr.of Bharatnatyam,Pandit Pushpanath Mishra Of Vocal and Pandit Kumar Lal Mishra Dr.of Tabla were selected and awarded. The chief guest of the day was Professor Goshe Ngawang Samten,the Vice Chancellor of Tibetan University,Sarnath. Bishop Raphy Manjaly Presided over the function .Two C.D.s were released at this function.

MARCH 4, 2013

Dr.Saroja Vaidyanathan the awardees of Printania gave demonstration classes for all our students of Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra in Milan Hall.It was excellently done. Every Mudra and action of Bharatnatyam was shown in details.The expressions were worth watching and imitating. Bravo Dr. Saroja !
