REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

The 67th Republic Day of our Country, India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy. It began with Eucharistic celebration offered by the Director with the students and prayed for the Nation. At 8.30 a.m. the tricolour national flag was hoisted infront of the Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra by the Principal Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian. The National anthem was sung by the staff and students of the college. On this auspicious occasion, we were privileged to have Prof. Dr. Bert Broeckaert as the Chief Guest along with his students of the faculty of theology and religious studies, Leuven University, Belgium. A well prepared cultural programme enhanced the joy of all. Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian prayed for the country and its leaders. The vocal students sang melodiously. A dance depicting India as a golden bird and her greatness was depicted through nimble feet and hand movements. Patriotic songs were sung by the students, which evoked love and devotion towards the country.  The rhythmic movements and melodious singing of the Beligius students was appreciated by all. The rich cultural heritage of India and its natural resources were brought out by a fusion dance. Principal Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian in his speech emphasized the sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi and the freedom fighters. He reminded Gandhi’s principles of Non-violence and peace as well as the need to follow his paths. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Bert congratulated for their excellent scintillating performance. The programme was anchored by Miss Kajal and Miss Priyanka. Miss Suchita Xalxo proposed the vote of thanks. At the end sweets were distributed on this auspicious day. The day was glorious as the sun shone brightly, dispelling the gloom and darkness, foretelling the bright future of India.
