SATRARAMBH – INAUGURATION OF THE NEW SCHOLASTIC YEAR

The day started with the Eucharistic Celebration invoking God’s blessings on the college and its principal, staff and students by Most Rev. Eugene J, Chairman, Varanasi. The formal inaugural session began with the lighting of the lamp at 9.00 a.m. in the Milan Hall. The well decorated diya was lighted by the chief guest Most Rev. Eugene, principal Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian, Sr.Rosely, SRA, Miss Vineetha and student leader Miss Jenifer during melodious singing of the students. The scriptural reading was done by Miss Sapna on theme: “You are the salt of the earth; You are the light of the world” (Mt. 5: 13-16).

The Bharatnatyam Students performed a prayer dance under the guidance of Mr.Robin A. All were spell bound at the recital. Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian, Principal, addressed the students. In his speech he welcomed all present, especially the new staff members: Sr.Rosely, SRA, Vice Principal and Warden of the Hostel, and Miss Vineetha, Dance Teacher as well as Prof. Dr. Ramoo Prasad Shastri, the resource person for the seminar. He conveyed growth and progress of the college in number and activities. In his message he stated “If you wish to go fast, go alone; if you wish to go far, go together.” Thus, he stressed the need of working together as team with co-operation, collaboration, unity and solidarity. Dr.Ramsudhar Singh delivered the message stating that the students are in a special college and special place with unique milieu. They are all unique. Music and Dance make all part of the divine and good human beings. Hence, develop your talents and be in communion with God and humans. Be creative and diligent. The Chief Guest exhorted the students to maintain the purity of the classical music, dance and art of India; the professors need to adapt to the place and situation of the culture and ethos of students; He further stated to fulfill the objectives and vision of the college. Under the guidance of Miss Vineetha K.V. the Bharatnatyam students performed a  fusion dance of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala,  which was well appreciated by all present. The college leader Miss Jenifer proposed the vote of thanks, which was short and sweet.

After a short break the students gathered to listen to the demo of the Violin specialist Prof. Dr. Ramoo Prasad Shastri. He is the renowned violinist and musicologist in India and Ex-head of Department of Instrumental Music, Ex-Dean of Hanaras hindu University, Varanasi. He has also received U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2002 and National Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2007. The demo manifested his mastery over the violin; it was said that he did play violin, but more he spoke through violin. The students enjoyed and applauded the scintillating superb performance on violin. He did express his gratitude for appreciative listening and patience of the students and staff. He was extremely happy with vibe of Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra. At the end he was honoured by the Principal and his accompanists: Shri Lalit Kumar and Shri Alok Kumar.
