A fusion of Bharatnatyam and Hindustani Music was presented by the students of Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra at the Dashashwamedh Ghat on the occasion of Dev Deepavali Mahotsava celebrated and organized by Ganga Seva Nidhi, Varanasi on Nov. 28, 2012. Shri Basant Kumar Birla and his wife Sarla Birla were the Chief Guests for the occasion. It was the golden opportunity offered to Kala Kendra. The Principal and staff of Kala Kendra seized the opportunity and presented enthralling, scintillating performance of Bharatnatyam with the live, mellifluous, enchanting singing lead by Dr. B.Tiwari and Mr. Sandeep Pandey, professor and student respectively with the choir of the college. Tabla was accompanied by Mr. Jaydev and Mridangam by Mr. Rakesh Edwin. The choreography of the dance was prepared and directed by Mr. Raj Kumar. The theme was ‘Life Giving Water’, in Hindi it was titled “Maan Gangaâ€. Its aim was to create awareness to have clean, green and serene Varanasi, Ganga and its Ghats and ultimate goal of Healthy and Sublime India. Lively anchoring was done by Dr.Ramsudhar Singh. Mr. Kamini Mohan, PRO of the college was also present. The inspiring support, guidance and cooperation was given by Dr. Fr.V.Sebastian, Principal of the College and Director of Nav Sadhana. Thus the whole college personnel were involved, interested and enthused to put up the programme.
The audiences were spell bound to see the unique fusion of Bharatnatyam and Hindustani Music, which is a historic event for the college and for the public of Varanasi as well as for the National and International onlookers. Our students and staff participated in the program witnessed to the Maha Aarati on the occasion, which was solemn, magnificent and elegant.
