Deeksharambh’ means the beginning of new session in relation to Indian classical music and dance. It was held on July 24, 2014 in the Millan hall at 08:30 am.
In Deeksharambh what happens is that the new comers of our college recalling the Indian Guru ShishyaParamparathey show their love and respect; and also to request them to teach Indian classical music and dance. As a sign of love and respect for the guruji the college students with the new dress bring in the plate coconut, betel leave, new rice, flowers, sweets, supari, apple to get blessing from the guru. Every item symbolizes something of the guru, shishya and the subject. Each of these has rich meaning with its own importance. Teachers and the students wear traditional dress. Thus the ancient culture (guru shishyaparampara) of India is kept up in our college.
Coconut – It depicts the hard and strict nature of the Gurus. As coconut is hard from outside and soft from inside so in the same way the gurus are also strict from outside and soft from inside.
Thread on the coconut: The thread on coconut symbolizes the strong guru shishyarelationship.
Apple – It is also compared to the Gurus. Apple is red in color and therefore it is a symbol of blood as blood is important for our body. In the same way our life cycle is circulated by Gurus.
Betel Leaf –When we eat this leaf with chunait makes our tongue red in the same way,   the knowledge which is given to us by our Gurus become more and more effective in our life style.
Plate –  All these items are kept in the plate. It symbolizes the boundary. The teacher and student have their boundary in learning and teaching traditionally. Secondly as there are different items in the same plate so also there are different talents, abilities and skills present in the students. The guru keeps these students united without damaging anybody’s inner ability.
Dr. B.P.Tiwari and Dr.Ramsudhar Singh explained well the meaning of these items in their          own way. The Principal, Rev Dr. Fr. V. Sebastian stated in his message to be humble in behavior to get more knowledge from Gurus; reflection and repentance will bringchanges in the life; Let not pride rule us. So DeeksharambhSamaroh was a meaningful celebration.
