The 69th Independence Day Celebration of India began in the Nav Sadhana campus with flag hoisting by Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian, Principal of the Nav Sadhana Kala Kendra, Post Graduate College of Music and Dance on Aug. 15, 2015 at 8.30 a.m. in the presence of the staff and students of the college as well as in the presence of employees of Nav Sadhana Regional Pastoral Centre and Junior sisters of St.Ann’s Convent, Harahua. It was followed by the cultural programme in the Milan Hall.
The cultural programme began with the prayer service along with the readings from four scriptural texts of Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Sikh Religions as well as praying for the country and her leaders. The Digamber and Tyagraj Groups presented melodious and mind capturing patriotic songs composed by them. A patriotic dance was performed by the students under the guidance of Sir Robin and a folk dance was performed by the students under the guidance of Sir Vengdesh Prabhu. It enthralled the audience, who had accolade for their performance. Dr.Ramsudhar Singh delivered a message reciting the statements of freedom fighters such as Karthar Singh, Bhagat Singh, Ram Prasad Bismilla and Ullah Khan just before death how courageous and patriotic they were to die for the nation’s freedom. They never lost hope of getting freedom, but died as martyrs of the nation. Consequently we got the freedom on Aug. 15, 1947. He appealed to all to learn to live in love, harmony and peace. Dr.Fr.V.Sebastian, Principal of the college spoke on the need of true love for the nation and citizens of India and the need to search for TRUTH, which would make people free, for TRUTH is God. Mahatma Gandhi searched for TRUTH and followed Satya, Ahimsa, Satkarm and Tapasiya, to achieve freedom for the country. All of us need to learn from him to live a life of harmony and peace and to render selfless service to build our nation. It is not sufficient we speak, but the need of the hour is to live by these values. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sr.Joan, CJ, Vice Principal and anchoring was done by Miss Richa and Miss Jenifer. The celebration came to end with the distribution of sweets to all present.
